The URBOND Volunteers Programme

One Journey. One Purpose. A Lasting Impact.

Since 2021, our annual volunteer trips to Guinea have brought people together to make a difference in the lives of children and communities through education, practical support and shared commitment.

Every year, URBOND Child Education brings together volunteers who share a passion for making a positive difference. Travelling to the Republic of Guinea, West Africa, our volunteers contribute their time, skills, energy and enthusiasm to support the local employees and volunteers in educational projects and community initiatives.

What began with our first volunteer trip in October 2021 has grown into an ongoing programme built around a shared belief: that collective action can create opportunities, strengthen communities and help children build brighter futures.

Our annual trip is more than a visit. It is an opportunity to turn compassion into action, connect with communities, contribute to meaningful projects and become part of the mission that extends far beyond the journey itself.

Making a Difference Through Volunteering

At the heart of our Volunteers Programme is the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the communities we serve.

Our volunteers support the work of URBOND’s teams based in Guinea to improve educational opportunities for children, develop learning environments and deliver initiatives that respond to the needs of local communities.

Through their involvement, volunteers help advance projects ranging from school development and educational resources to girls’ education, health awareness and sporting activities.

A significant milestone in this journey was the completion of the first phase of Koutaya School project in November 2025. Featuring six classrooms, an IT room and a library, the school represents an important step towards expanding educational opportunities for children in the community.

This achievement reflects the collective efforts of volunteers, donors, supporters, partners and local community members who have contributed to bringing the project to life.

For our volunteers, being part of this journey means contributing to something with the potential to benefit children and communities long after each annual trip has ended.

The impact of volunteering is not measured only by what we accomplish during our time in Guinea, but by the opportunities we help create and the foundations we help establish for the future.

More Than a Trip: An Experience That Connects Us

Volunteering with URBOND offers an opportunity to experience the power of community, collaboration and shared purpose.

Our trips bring together people from different backgrounds, professions and nationalities, united by a common desire to contribute to positive change. By working alongside local communities and engaging with people whose experiences may differ from their own, volunteers develop a deeper understanding of the challenges surrounding access to education and the importance of sustainable community development.

The experience encourages teamwork, cultural exchange, personal growth and a greater appreciation of what can be achieved when people work together.

For many volunteers, the journey is also a personal one. It offers the opportunity to develop new perspectives, build lasting relationships and return home with a renewed sense of purpose.

Every volunteer brings something valuable to the programme, whether through professional expertise, practical assistance, fundraising, community engagement or simply a willingness to learn and contribute.

It is this diversity of skills, experiences and perspectives that makes our volunteer community so important.

The Impact We Are Creating Together

Our Volunteers Programme forms part of URBOND’s wider commitment to improving educational opportunities and supporting community development in Guinea.

Be Part of Something Bigger

The URBOND Volunteers Programme welcomes people who share our commitment to education, community development and creating positive change.

You do not need to be an education professional or have previous volunteering experience to express an interest. What matters most is your willingness to contribute, your enthusiasm for working with others and your respect for the communities we serve.

Whether you bring practical skills, professional experience, creative ideas or simply a desire to help, there may be an opportunity for you to contribute to our work.

By becoming a volunteer, you join a growing community of people working towards a common purpose: helping children access educational opportunities and supporting communities as they build a stronger future.

Every journey begins with a decision to get involved. Yours could be the next.
